How to play
Find the mystery rugby player of the day in 8 guesses. Type a name and pick a player from the suggestions: each guess adds a row of tiles comparing your pick with the mystery player on nation, current club, league, position, age, height, weight and caps.
Green is an exact match and grey is wrong. Yellow means close: a position in the same group (a hooker instead of a prop, say), an age within 2 years, a height within 3 cm, a weight within 5 kg, caps within 10, or a nation from the same hemisphere. On age, height, weight and caps, an arrow tells you whether to aim higher or lower.
Stuck? Three optional hints unlock after 3, 5 and 7 missed guesses: his initials, the year of his first cap (or first professional season), then his training club or first professional club. A new player arrives every day at midnight.

Tips
- For a first guess, pick an established international of average age, build and caps: the arrows will then show you which way to go on every scale.
- Treat the arrows as a range: if one guess says the mystery player is older and another says he is younger, his age lies between the two.
- A yellow club means the right league but the wrong club, so make your next guess from another club in that league.
- Yellow on position puts you in the right unit, such as the front row, the half-backs or the back three: try another position in that unit.
- Hints are optional, so keep them for when you are really stuck: using any of them puts a light bulb in your shared result.
FAQ
Is it a rugby Wordle?
In spirit, yes: Scrumdle is a daily guessing game in which every guess earns you colour clues. The clues are all about rugby (nation, club, league, position, age, height, weight and caps), and the game is not affiliated with Wordle.
When does the new puzzle come out?
Every day at midnight in your own time zone. Everyone gets the same mystery player on a given date, so you can compare results with friends wherever they live.
Where does the data come from?
From Wikidata (CC0) and Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0), updated automatically every night, so a player's current club or caps can lag a few days behind real transfers and matches. If you spot an error, report it from the player card at the end of the game: the fix is applied automatically after several matching reports.
Can I replay old puzzles?
Yes. The archive lets you play every past day, and the unlimited mode serves up random players as often as you like, even offline once loaded. Neither counts towards your streak.
What do the colours and arrows mean?
Green is exact and grey is wrong. Yellow means close: for example a position in the same group, an age within 2 years, a height within 3 cm, a weight within 5 kg, caps within 10, a nation from the same hemisphere or a club in the same league. On age, height, weight and caps, an arrow shows whether the mystery player's figure is higher or lower than your guess.
How do the hints work?
Three optional hints unlock after 3, 5 and 7 missed guesses: the player's initials, the year (and opponent) of his first international cap or his first professional season, then his training club or first professional club. If you use any, a light bulb appears in your shared result.
What is hard mode?
Hard mode gives you 6 guesses instead of 8 and hides the club and league columns. The mystery player is the same as in normal mode, but hard mode has its own statistics and streak.
Who can be the mystery player?
Daily players are drawn from well-known names, mostly established internationals in the World edition; players who retired more than a few years ago are left out of the World daily draw but can still be guessed. The Top 14, Premiership, URC, Super Rugby, Six Nations and Rugby Championship editions each have their own daily player and their own streak.
Can I challenge a friend?
Yes. Pick a player, create a challenge link and send it: the player stays hidden in the link, so your friend plays the same game without seeing the answer.
What are the bonus rounds?
Once the game is over, optional bonus rounds ask you to guess his club, his number of caps and his birth year. Your bonus results are included when you share.
