Rugby Grid
Rugby Grid · Top 14
Nine squares, nine players, one rarity score.
How to play
Fill the grid: each square needs a player who matches its row and its column. You have 9 guesses and a player can only be used once. Each correct answer shows how many players gave the same name: the lower your rarity score, the better.

How to play
Fill the 3×3 grid with rugby players. Each row and each column has a criterion: a club, a nation, a position, 50+ or 100+ caps, a title such as the World Cup or a Six Nations Grand Slam, a birth decade, a height or weight, having played in both hemispheres, and more. To fill a square, select it and name a player who matches both its row and its column.
You have 9 guesses for 9 squares, and each player can be used only once. A wrong guess uses up a guess without filling the square.
Every correct answer shows the percentage of people who gave the same name today. Your rarity score adds up these percentages, with 100 for each empty square: the lower, the better. You can stop at any time to see the most given answers, and a new grid arrives every day at midnight.

Tips
- Start with the squares that look hardest, while you still have all your guesses in hand.
- Don't spend a player who fits several squares too early: he can be used only once, so keep him for the square where you have no other option.
- For a low rarity score, think beyond the obvious stars: a squad player few people remember beats the name everyone gives.
- A club criterion counts any club in his career, past or present, so think of former players as well as the current squad.
- If you are unsure about a square, fill another one first: a wrong guess costs a whole guess and leaves the square empty.
FAQ
Is it a rugby Wordle?
It shares the same daily spirit, with one grid a day for everyone, but instead of guessing a single answer you fill a whole grid with players who match rugby criteria. Rugby Grid is not affiliated with Wordle.
When does the new grid come out?
Every day at midnight in your local time. Everyone gets the same grid on a given date, and each edition has its own.
Where does the data come from?
Player data comes from Wikidata (CC0) and Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0) and is updated automatically every night, so a recent transfer or the latest caps can take a few days to show. You can report an error from the player card shown at the end of the mystery player and career games, and corrections are applied automatically after several matching reports.
Can I replay old grids?
Yes. The archive keeps every past grid, and the unlimited mode generates random grids as often as you like, even offline once loaded. Neither counts towards your streak.
How does the rarity score work?
Each correct answer shows the percentage of people who gave the same player for that square today. Your rarity score adds up these percentages, with 100 for each empty square, so the lower it is, the better.
Can I use the same player twice?
No. A player can be used only once per grid, even if he fits several squares.
What happens if I get a square wrong?
The guess is used up and the square stays empty. You can try it again with another player as long as you have guesses left.
Is there a time limit?
Not by default. You can switch on an optional 3-minute timer on the Settings page, and you can stop at any time to see the most given answers.
Which editions can I play?
World, Top 14, Premiership, URC and Super Rugby. In the league editions, the club criteria come from that league's own clubs.
Does every square have an answer?
Yes. Every grid is checked in advance so that each square has several possible answers. If you are stuck, the "Hints and answer" page reveals hints one at a time, with the answers behind a button.
